Tony Knox (Cuator)

‘and wondered how anyone could ever imagine unquiet slumbers for the sleepers in that quiet earth’, quotations from 'Wuthering Heights' by Emily Bronte.

This exhibition is retrospective of the life of Richard Fisher,The theme reflects a sense of departure and death. In the work Richard often portrays himself in varying sleep and departed states of consciousness, and he frequently presents himself in a cadaverous state. In his early work Fisher often appears in a state of insomnious turmoil. The progresses into a state of trance - like slumber in his later work.

One of the last Self portard known in Ireland Traley, where Richard Fisher taken his own life by hanging himself he was 28 at that time. This project was made possible by richard fisher friends James burke & Tony Knox who had been entrusted with Fishers work while he was in Ireland working and living. Richard death had a profound effect on many people who kindly donated piece of richard fisher work for this show so this exhibition was part of a healing progress where the work started to indicate towards a tormentard and individual soul. This was one of the reasons why Tony knox became the curator of the Acorn gallery/ Eggs Space gallery, this what started this bold & connection with the egg space.
